Symphony Orchestra

About the event

Join the WSU Symphony Orchestra as they perform their first concert of the 2017-2018 academic year. We will be featuring several sections of the orchestra, as well as Larissa Opp, 2017 WSU Concerto Competition Winner.

The evening opens with Tchaikovsky’s beloved “Souvenir de Florence” performed by the string section of the orchestra. The program then moves to Jean Sibelius’s “Preludio” which features our wind and percussion section. The highlight of the evening is Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto performed by Ms. Opp, after which we call upon the entire group on stage to perform Smetana’s exciting “Three Dances” from his classic opera “The Bartered Bride”.
