About the event

The Washington State University Symphony Orchestra presents its final concert of the year, entitled “Pictures at an Exhibition.”

The concert opens up with Gliere’s fiery “Overture to Russlan to Ludmilla.” The piece will be conducted by Associate Professor of Cello, Dr. Ruth Boden-Luethi. We then feature senior Sky Sengnaryong, one of this year’s Concerto/Aria Competition winners. She wlll perform Carl Reinecke’s famous Concerto for Flute (Movement III.) The year ends with a resounding bang, as the orchestra perform Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.” The work is a tour-de-force showcase of color, technique, and familiar musical images for the players and audience to enjoy.
This concert is open to the public and without charge.
