John Nastos is a multi-instrumentalist from Portland Oregon. John attended the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Mike Abene, Dick Oatts, Steve Wilson, and Bob Mintzer. John has toured with Diane Schuur and Esperanza Spaulding, has recorded with the Chuck Israels Orchestra, and has written for Pink Martini, Damian Erskine, and Bobby Torres. Also, the WSU faculty ensemble Jazz Northwest featuring saxophonists Greg Yasinitsky and Dave Hagelganz, trombonist Sarah Miller, pianist Brian Ward, guitarist Brad Ard, bassist Dave Snider, and drummer Dave Jarvis will be featured in an afternoon concert at the end of the festival.

Each participating group will receive written comments from our distinguished adjudicators and an individual off-stage clinic. Guest artist John Nastos and WSU faculty will present workshops throughout the day. Trophies will be awarded to outstanding bands of the morning and the afternoon. Admission to the gala and afternoon concerts is free to all festival participants and the public.
