Jazz Concert

About the event

The Washington State University School of Music will present a jazz concert free to the public at 8pm Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Kimbrough Concert Hall at Washington State University. The concert will feature WSU Jazz Band I under the direction of Brian Ward and WSU Jazz Band II under the direction of Brian Ploeger. The bands will perform works by important jazz composers and arrangers, and will feature many of the school’s most talented soloists and ensemble musicians.

Jazz Band II’s director, Ploeger, won the Downbeat award for Graduate College Soloist on Trumpet/Flugelhorn this year. Ward, director of Jazz Band I, helped create an arrangement for Esperanza Spalding that won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement for Vocal Performance in 2013. Both Ploeger and Ward will be directing for the first time this year.

This concert is open to the public and without charge.
