International Women’s Day

About the event

International Women’s Day “is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women” (United Nations). First celebrated in 1911, International Women’s Day honors the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action.

Each year, the WSU International Women’s Day Committee works together to develop an event to celebrate women’s achievements worldwide. Visit cce.wsu.edu/womensday for a complete list of events.
