Inclusive Teaching and Mentoring Workshop

About the event

The Critical Literacies Achievement and Success Program (CLASP) invites you to join us for the “Inclusive Teaching and Mentoring Workshop”!

In this workshop, teachers and mentors will devise practical interventions focused on increasing the efficiency, sophistication, and hospitality with which we serve and engage first-generation, multicultural, low-income, or otherwise underrepresented students. Beyond merely providing a vocabulary with which to understand students’ experiences, attendees will develop concrete strategies for confronting issues of positionality, stereotype threat, and microaggressions. Through a combination of group activities and personal reflection, attendees will locate intersections between theory and practice, examining matters of small groups, interpersonal communication, responding to writing, and document design, inside and outside of the classroom.
