Future City 2017 Competition

About the event

“Future City starts with a question – how can we make the world a better place? To answer this question, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future that showcase their solution to a citywide sustainability issue. Past topics include storm water management, urban agriculture, and green energy. This year’s challenge is Power of the Public Space.

On January 14 2017, students from 8 different schools in the Inland NW will present their solutions via a virtual city design (using SimCity); a 1,500-word city essay; a scale model; a project plan, and a presentation to judges at WSU-Pullman campus. Our top 3 teams represent us in Settle’s regional competition on the following week and the winners will move to the National Finals in Washington, DC in Feb.

After the competition is over, students’ participants are not only prepared to be citizens of today’s complex and technical world, they are poised to become the drivers of tomorrow.”

We are looking for judges and volunteers in the STEM and education fields. If you are interested contact: snassiri@wsu.edu.
