Faculty Artist Series: By Request

About the event

Shannon Scott

My Faculty Artist Series Recital is called “By Request.” The idea originated with fellow faculty member euphonium artist Chris Dickey asking me that when I next give a recital, that it have the Johannes Brahms Sonata No. 1 in F Minor on it. Another request came from composer and bassoonist Ryan Hare, who wants to hear me play the Three Pieces by Igor Stravinsky.  When my clarinet counterpart at the University of Idaho, Shawn Copeland, asked me to be a guest artist for the Montana/Idaho Clarinet Festival, whose dates coincide with my FAS recital, we added another request, for the very hip work by Marc Mellits titled Black, for two amplified bass clarinets. There will be a reconsideration of the Debussy Premiere Rhapsodie as well. Colleague and pianist Karen Savage will perform the Brahms and Debussy, and Copeland will be the other bass clarinetist for Black.
