REGISTRATION for the 2014 Country Living Expo and Cattlemen’s Winterschool on January 25, 2014 is now open.

This year the Expo presents over 175 classes covering beef, bees, business, cooking, country living, dairy, equine, fiber, food, forestry, gardening, goats, livestock, pasture, poultry, rabbits, sheep, swine and more.

Explore our 60 new classes: small engine repair, saving seeds, geo caching, Animal Sciences at WSU, home yogurt making, choosing the right tractor and implements for your property,  organic certification for livestock producers, milk quality and mastitis, profiting with livestock, aquaponics, fodder feeding, basics of birding, finding and cooking the top 10 wild edible foods, tanning hides and much more.  WSU Executive Chef  Jamie Callison will be showcasing recipes from his new book, “The Crimson Spoon”. We’re also offering an introduction To Old Time Music with Regie Miles sharing “The Saw and Washboard” and “Playing the Spoons”  with Artis the Spoonman.

We’ve expanded: In addition to the Expo, we have events on Friday, January 24 and Sunday, January 26. Friday events include all-day WSU Beef 200 and evening classes FAMACHA© training and kimchee fermenting. Beef farm tour workshops will be held on Sunday. Registration  for the Expo is $70 after January 1, 2014. The first 200 youth age 12 – 18 will receive a reduced registration rate of $10, regular youth price is $40. Registration includes coffee and fresh baked pastries in the morning, 5 classes, and your choice of a smoked prime  rib or deluxe  vegetarian lunch. There is no charge for entrance into the all-day trade show to shop with over 60 small farm and business vendors.

Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. on January 25. The Country Living Expo is held at the Stanwood High School, 7400 272nd St NW, Stanwood, WA 98292. Presented by Livestock Master Foundation, WSU Extension, Tri County Cattlemen’s Assoc. and hosted by Stanwood FFA.
