Poverty Awareness Week

About the event

Each year, the WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) invites students, staff, faculty, and community members to help raiseawareness of poverty during the week before Thanksgiving break, November 16-22, 2014. Throughout this week, the CCE partners with several WSU departments, student groups, and community organizations to hold events and activities.

All week long, the CCE will hold daily service projects open to WSU students, and food and supplies drives will take place both on and off campus in support of local community organizations. Other events include: a coffee hour and potluck on November 14; a bowling tournament at Zeppoz on November 15; a letter writing campaign for St. Jude on November 16; a documentary screening on November 16; a public discussion on November 18; and a cardboard city on November 19.

Visit cce.wsu.edu for a full list of events and sponsors as well as more information on poverty and local resources. Search for #cougsagainstpoverty on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates. Join the CCE to show the world that Cougs stand against poverty during Poverty Awareness Week this year.
