9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

About the event

The WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) invites students, faculty and staff to join us in service on 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. The CCE is offering a variety of special projects on this day, and many other local projects are available on cougsync.wsu.edu.

In the morning from 9:30 AM to 1 PM, students can join the CCE to collect donations for Harvest House. Harvest House then sorts and sells the donated items at their thrift store as part of a training program for adults with disabilities. In the afternoon from 1 PM to 3 PM, students can visit local seniors at Whitman Senior Living. During this project, students will spend time socializing with seniors and giving them manicures. After the local primary schools are out from 3:10 PM to 5:30 PM, the CCE will transport students to the Palouse Library to spend time mentoring local children and youth, help them with their homework, and enjoy fun activities. These projects include free transportation, and students can sign up from cce.wsu.edu/911.

The CCE is also looking for a student group to help Whitman Senior living run a spaghetti benefit dinner in the evening from 4:30 PM to 8 PM. Proceeds from this event will go to support the Pullman Fire Department. If your group is interested in helping with this great event, complete the group request form located at cce.wsu.edu/911.

Visit cce.wsu.edu/911 to learn more about these and other projects taking place this 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. We hope you will join us in honoring the victims and heroes of 9/11.
